Rabbi Dr. Jay Michaelson is an author, journalist, professor, and meditation teacher. Jay is a regular contributor to CNN and Rolling Stone, where he writes primarily on the Supreme Court, religion, and LGBTQ equality. His ten books include The Gate of Tears: Sadness and the Spiritual Path... Everything is God: The Radical Path of Nondual Judaism... and The Heresy of Jacob Frank: From Jewish Messianism to Esoteric Myth. In the academic world, Jay is an affiliated assistant professor at Chicago Theological Seminary, and a fellow at the Center for LGBTQ & Gender Studies in Religion. He is authorized to teach meditation in a Theravadan Buddhist lineage, and holds nondenominational rabbinic ordination, as well as a PhD in Jewish Thought from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, plus a JD from Yale Law School.
